Through our GBV Crisis Centre, we centralise all support services in one humane location — providing free medical treatment, psychosocial support and legal aid to survivors of gender-based violence. SGBV is a serious problem in Somalia especially in IDP camps; we tackle the root causes through prevention and survivor-centred responses.
Responding to high unemployment and low income among women in South Central Somalia, ARIMWAC develops income-generation projects and skills training. We encourage women to participate in decision-making bodies, fostering independence and community leadership.
Since 2021, ARIMWAC has implemented livelihood programs through food vouchers, agricultural inputs, cash assistance, small-scale business support and water vouchers — all aimed at improving household food security and reducing dependency.
ARIMWAC supports Mother and Child Health centres across Banaadir, Hirshabelle and Southwest states — providing ante-natal, post-natal and preventive/curative services at grassroots level.
We rehabilitate boreholes, construct latrines, install hand-washing facilities and conduct hygiene promotion through household visits, radio programs and trainings to reduce cholera in IDP communities.
Our DRM approach begins with Participatory Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) then Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction (CM-DRR) plans — placing communities at the heart of building resilience.
